OCDChinatown is pleased to announce performances by Sigrid Lauren and Young Boy Dancing Group (YBDG) at The Firehouse, 87 Lafayette St., New York, NY. Both will feature new work and will include a selection of outstanding dancers.
The debut of YBDG's site-specific performance will mark the start of their new body of work for 2023. Initiated in 2014, YBDG began as a nameless performance collective, a versatile host embracing an ever-changing network of dancers. YBDG has worked in video, photography, fashion, sculpture, and installation but the group remains best known for rawly intimate performances in which the materiality of bodies encounters the ethereality of light. They have made numerous international appearances, performing at venues all around the world.
Sigrid Lauren is one half of the performance art duo FlucT with Monica Mirabile. Their work has been exhibited and performed at the Guggenheim, Art Basel Miami, the Broad Museum, the Queens Museum, Material Art Fair, Andrea Rosen Gallery and the Ministry of Sound, amongst others. Her choreography and movement direction have expanded into projects including Mugler, Peter Do, Kim Shui, Ivy Park, Nike, Donda 1 & 2, Sophie, Drew McDowall, among others. Currently Sigrid is developing and touring her community workshop, 'how to throw a body a way.'
The performances will take place at The Firehouse, 87 Lafayette St and will start at 8 pm sharp. Donation suggested.
